Servers support in-game commands. Only very old servers don't have them. These commands allow you to
switch team without quiting or to change serveroptions without restarting
the server. These commands are given in the same way as your textmessages, by pressing M.
Some commands are only available for operators.
You can become an operator if you know the password of the server.
The available commands are
/get <option>
This command will display the current value for <option>.
/help
This command displays all the available commands.
/help <command> will give help about the specified command
/team <teamnumber>
This command allows you to swap to another team.
Obviously this only works on a teamplay map.
/ally <command>
This command manages your alliances. <command> can be any of the following
invite <player>
Invite a player to join your alliance.
cancel
Cancel your invitation.
refuse [player]
Refuse all current invitations.
refuse player will just refuse the invitation from player.
accept [player]
Accept all current invitations.
accept player will just accept the invitation form player.
leave
Leave the alliance. You are now their enemy again.
list
List all the players in your alliance.
/version
This command displays the versionnumber of the server.
/lock <0/1>
This command can lock the server so that nobody can enter the server
anymore. This will allow private games.
You need to be operator for this though.
/lock 1 locks the server.
/lock 0 unlocks the server.
/password <password>
This command will make you operator, IF you know the password.
/pause
This command allows you to force someone to pause. This is useful to
get rid of players who are not moving anymore. You need to be an operator
for this.
/reset
This command resets the server, everone will be transported back to
their base and a new round will begin.
/reset all will also reset all scores to 0. Operator status
required.
/set <option> <value>
You can also change mapoptions while the server is running, but not
all of them. Some options just require you to restart the server. Again,
you need to be operator for this.
/kick <player>
This commands allows you to kick other players out. Obviously an operator-only
command.
/show (or /queue)
On 4.U.x servers this was still /show queue, but on modern servers
it's now only /queue. This commands show the players who are waiting
to get in. You can get waiting players, when the server is out of bases.
/advance <player>
When players are queued you can get them to be allowed in first. For
example if /queue reports that players "Stupid" and "J-a-r-n-o"
are queued, you can type /advance J-a-r-n-o to allow me to enter
first when there is room again. Only operators can do this.
