Xpilot : Newbieguide  : Items

While flying through the map, you will encounter items. There are 21 of them. (Not counting the random item). You can see them during play if you press on the ABOUT-button in XPilot.

Afterburner Afterburner
This item will increase your enginepower, allowing you to accelerate and fly faster.
Key to use : None.
Armor Armor
This item can absorb one shot or wallcrash without killing you. Everytime you are shot or smack into a wall at a speed that would normally kill you, you will loose an armor. Until you are all out, and then you will die.
Key to use : None
Autopilot Autopilot
This item will allow you to make a full stop, even with gravity. A very useful item if you want to refuel at a fuelstation. The more you have of them, the faster you come to a standstill.
Key to use : H.
Cloak Cloak
This item can make you invisible. Most of the time you will not be visible on the radar or the screen. However, there are short periods when the other players can see you. Only your exhaust will always be visible, unless the server is configured otherwise. Beware, players with sensors can see you for a longer period of time than players without sensors, but the more cloaks you collect, the shorter these periods of visibility last.
Key to use : <BACKSPACE>.
Deflector Deflector
This item will push objects away from you, like bullets, balls, players, etcetera. It is a very weak item though, but the more you collect, the stronger it will become.
Key to use : O.
ECM ECM (Electronic Counter Measure)
This item has many functions :
It can blind players within the radius of the ECM. This means they will see nothing but a blue screen, leaving them helpless for about a second. The closer the player is to you, the longer he will see a blue screen.

It can destroy the laseritems owned by players within the radius of the ECM.

It can reprogram the robotplayers. This means the bot will declare war on the player you are currently locked on. (see chapter "Locking onto players"). The bot will then try to kill that player.

It can reprogram mines and missiles. When you are close enough to a mine or missile and you ECM, the mine will become yours or the missile will now follow the player you are currently locked on to.

It can break a ballconnector, though the chance of that happening is 15% at the closest range. Ballconnectors will be handled later.

This is truly a multifunctional item.

Fuel Fuel
This item adds between 500 and 1011 units of fuel to your current fuellevel.

Hyperjump Hyperjump
This item allows you to make a hyperjump. You will be transported to another part of the map if you use this item. A convenient item to avoid death.
Key to use : Q.
Laser Laser
This item allows you to shoot laserbeams. Laserbeams are much more powerful than bullets. They are very useful in shielded maps as they drain a lot of fuel from the player getting hit. You can use modifiers with them too as will be explained in "Advanced modifiers". The more you have of them, the faster you can shoot.

Mine Mine
This item allows you to drop or throw mines. More info about this item can be found in chapter "Mines, missiles and simple modifiers".

Mirror Mirror
This item will give you a chance to survive a blast from a laser. If you get hit by a laser, it may bounce of, doing no harm to you. The more you have of them, the greater the probability that the laser will actually be deflected.
Key to use : None.
Missile Missile
This item allows you to shoot missiles. More info about this item can be found in chapter "Mines, missiles and simple modifiers".

Phasing Phasing
This item allows you to fly through walls. You have a limited supply, you can fly through walls for about 5 seconds in total. The best way to use this it to turn it on, just before you are going to hit the wall. When you have passed the wall, turn it back off with the same key. This way you don't use up all 5 seconds at once.

Rearshot Rearshot
This item allows you to fire backwards too. The more rearshotitems you get, the more bullets you can fire to your rear. Be careful though! When you hit someone closeby, his explosion may push you into your own bullets.

Sensor Sensor
This item allows you to (momentarely) see cloaked players. The more you collect, the more longer you can see cloaked players.
It also reduces the time you are blinded by a ECM and again, the more you have, the faster you can see again.
Key to use : None.
Emergency shield Emergency shield
This item works exactly the same as normal shielding. The only problem is that you have a limited supply. Shields are still operated with <SPACE> or with autoshield. So use space or keep shooting and let autoshield raise it for you.

Fueltank Fueltank
This item increases your fuelcapacity. You normally start with 2600 fuelcapacity, but a fueltank will increase it to 3466 and increase you refuelingspeed too. The more tanks, the more fuel you can carry and the faster you refuel. You can also jettison your fueltank as a decoy for a heatseeker or other players. Or use your tank as a weapon by letting it fly over another player.

Emergency thrust Emergency thrust
This item will increase your speed dramatically for a short while. When you turn it on, your acceleration and speed will be phenominal. Watch out for the walls though.

Tractorbeam Tractorbeam
This item will allow you to push or pull the player you are currently lock on to (see chapter "Locking onto players"). You can use this item to push or pull other players into the wall, or just plain annoy them. The more tractorbeamitems you collect, the more powerful it gets. The range increases too with more tractorbeamitems.

Transporter Transporter
This item allows you to steal items or fuel from other players. When another player is close enough, you can use your transporter to steal an item or just fuel from him.
Key to use : T.
Wideangle Wideangle
This item will add two extra cannons to your ship. Once you have this item, it becomes very hard NOT to hit something.
Key to use : None.
Random item Random item
This item is a random item. It can be any of the above item when you grab it. You will only know what it is when you pick it up.
Key to use : None.

and its the more sensors you have, the more time you get to see the cloaked wusses
the more cloaks you have, the less time players with sensors see ya.

the emergency shield, while in use, lets nothing touch you, except for tractor beams.
if someone is throwing a nuke at you, this is helpful cause ya lose no fuel.

I changed the text a bit now. Items with texts like "the more you have, the ...." can be used as long as one lives, all the other items can only be used once.
